So.....It seems that the easiest way to stay on track is to let you guys know what I'm eating, that way, I'll feel too guilty to go on some crazy sweets or soda binge. I've been soda-free (but for half a sprite) for a month now! haha I sound like a recovering drug addict. But soda is kinda like a drug to me. Especially Dr. Pepper. Last night, for dinner, I had a grilled yellow bell pepper and about half a cup of fresh green beans, and a bite of bread! I couldn't help myself. You see, the hardest part is that I don't just cook dinner for myself. I also cook for my husband. He is all about being healthy, but he loooovvvves his bread! So yeah, that bite of bread was amazing. :) But dinner was great. I was worried I wouldn't get full, but it was super filling. I have found these past few weeks that I get full sooo much faster off of healthy foods than crappy foods. I could eat loads and loads of fast food, but healthy food fills me up immediately. I love it!
Here's a list of some of the changes I've made in my life on the path to getting skinny, toned and healthy!
NO sodas: Sodas are bad for you. Sodas are like crack. You drink one and you crave another. Carry water with you, EVERYWHERE you go. I have found that as long as I've got my water, I stay pretty full. I actually have to remind myself, "Alicia, it's time to eat." You'd be surprised how filling water is. And if you get bored with water, do what I do. I mix in a little packet of Benefiber with my water, and suddenly it's like drinking the best flavor of Kool-aid, but minus the fat! Also, I force myself to drink some of that "Emergen-C" vitamin drink. It tastes like crap, but it's so good for you. Instead of sipping on it for an hour, I just chug it down in 30 seconds. I'm like a little kid. I force it down like those nasty chewable vitamins because I have to. It's so good for me. :) I've already had 34 ounces of water today, and I'm starting on my next. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Besides keeping you full, it also helps your body to flush out fat!
Here's another before and after pic for you. Yeah, it's amazing!
Here's some more!
I like to make excuses. I say things like like, "Well, I just really like food and I don't want to be miserable."
Do you know what I'm learning? Fatty foods make me miserable. Healthy foods make me feel good!
More things I'm doing to get skinny:
Eat little meals all throughout the day. Don't starve yourself! It DOES.NOT.WORK. If you are constantly giving your body nutrition, you are keeping your metabolism up. I keep little healthy snacks around. Yesterday, when I started getting hungry, I snacked on Kellogg's Special K Vanilla Almond Cereal. And when I got hungry later, I had a few strawberries. :) Yum!
Something else I've been doing is using a cryosauna. It helps to trigger the body's natural fat-burning process, and every time I use it, I burn between 500 and 1,000 calories. It also gives me the energy to go work out when I get off work, which brings me to my next point.....
Working out! I've been getting in at least 30 minutes of cardio every day, plus different exercises with my weights. Even if I don't make it to the gym, I've got some 5 pound weights at home, and let me tell you, anything you do is intensified with dumbbells. Five pounds doesn't sound like a lot, but carry those on a run, or add them to any workout routine and you'll be gasping for breath!
I also work out at work. When I have a little free time, I just get under my desk where nobody can see me, and I do 50-75 crunches! I know that most people can't do this at work, but yeah, it works for me. :)
This will be me. Mark my words!!! :)
