Last night, I had dinner at my parent's house. We had grilled salmon and it was SOOO good! As most of you know, I have been on a health kick lately, dieting, working out and just trying to better my overall health in whatever ways possible! My dad was explaining to me last night how great fish is for your health, and I realized I need to incorporate much more into my diet.
It's a great source of protein, minerals, and vitamins, and fish like Salmon and Tuna are a good source for Omega-3. Apparently, Omega 3 is pretty awesome. It helps your brain to function better, and it also can lead to increased intelligence! Wow! Pregnant and nursing mothers can get a really big benefit from this too! Incorporating Omega 3 into your diet can actually increase your baby's intelligence!
It also helps to reduce inflammation, which causes pain, and lowers your risk of heart disease. It can even help to reduce cramps! What????! :)
Eating fish regularly helps to fight depression and prevent some diseases. It's good for your immune system, your vision and even benefits your nervous system!
According to the American Heart Association: "We recommend eating at least two servings of fish per week. A serving is just 3 ounces (the size of a deck of cards), so if you go to a restaurant, you will likely get served both servings at one sitting. Pregnant women and young children should avoid fish high in mercury and should have no more than two servings per week of low-mercury fish and no more than five servings a week of very low-mercury fish."
So there ya go! Improve your health and add some fish in your diet! :)
